Job Shadowing Day is a week-long event that brings employers and Special Education (SPED) students with disabilities* together to promote inclusive employment through job shadowing. The programme provides SPED students with the opportunity to be attached to employees from a variety of organisations for the duration of a day.
Through this exposure, SPED students will gain valuable exposure to different job roles and types of workplaces, and thereby gain a stronger understanding of what employment and working life entail.
Job Shadowing Day is also a good opportunity for employers to express their commitment to diversity and inclusion. At the same time, employees can again a better understanding of how to work with persons with disabilities and the value that they can bring to organisations.
*SG Enable Job Shadowing Day is dedicated to students in special education (SPED) schools aged 15 to 18 years old, and will be persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (e.g. autism).
